City Region Investment Drives Confidence

The city and region are continuing to attract and prioritise investment to ensure organisations have the conditions to scale and invest for a sustainable future.

Innovation

Innovation is our DNA. The £160 million Investment Zone builds on strengths in advanced manufacturing, space, maritime, and semiconductors. The Region already produces more small satellites than anywhere in Europe and is recognised as an end-to-end space hub, a leading UK Deeptech hub and boasts a highly integrated defence supply chain.

The £50 million Local Innovation Partnership Fund is enabling greater focus on health and life sciences to drive innovation and realise economic growth, recognising the huge potential emerging from our universities.

Our River Clyde

Glasgow's River Clyde is one of the greatest assets of the city and, perhaps, the largest untapped development opportunities in western Europe. The regeneration of the River Clyde corridor is a national priority, in terms of opportunity for regeneration and in protecting and improving environment and resilience of place.

£114 million of capital investment to the area will regenerate the river corridor as a desirable urban quarter that attracts jobs, investment and contributes to regional economic growth.

An ambitious investment programme is being developed for the river corridor via the Clyde Mission Strategic Masterplan, with funding for cleaner, cheaper heat already being supported by the £25 million Clyde Mission Heat Decarbonisation Fund.

Our City Centre

Glasgow city centre is undergoing its biggest upgrade in half a century. The £124 million Avenues programme is the largest investment and aims to transform the city through an integrated network of pedestrian and cycle routes.

The ambition is to double our residential population to 40,000 by 2035 and we are committed to working in partnership to adopt new approaches and models that support these ambitions. This is evidenced through the city’s work on feminist urban design and recent policies supporting high density, tall buildings and heritage retrofit.
