Project Overview

This is a prominent location on the south bank of the River Clyde and Glasgow City Centre with ambitious urban regeneration opportunities at scale with potential for up to 500 new homes across multiple tenures including affordable, BTR and private sale.

Potential for a mix of housing tenures including affordable, BTR and private sale.

Excellent transport links with Bridge Street subway station centrally located, Glasgow Central Railway Station and M74/M8 Motorways.

Supports key strategic aims of supporting economic growth in the city centre and improved place making.

Progress Update

A first stage of stakeholder and community engagement was undertaken across June – July 2025 by Kevin Murray Associates (KMA), for the New Gorbals Housing Association (NGHA) and Glasgow City Council (GCC) led masterplan for the North Laurieston area.

The vision aims to transform the district through:

  • re-connecting North Laurieston to the city centre, Tradeston, New Gorbals and the rest of Laurieston
  • reinstating the urban form, addressing gap sites, the civic waterfront and improving connections
  • revitalising existing heritage assets, streets and public spaces
  • re-establishing a vibrant neighbourhood on the city's south bank

The masterplan is being consulted on (May – Jun 2026) prior to approval as planning guidance in summer 2026.
