Project Overview
The City of Glasgow College has ambition to create a pioneering Workforce Innovation Centre using immersive technologies to skill future workforces, combined with start-up, events and conferencing facilities. Adjacent to this will be a unique multi-purpose accommodation development.
City of Glasgow College presents a £70 - £90 million investment opportunity to create a new Workforce Innovation Centre with integrated student and conference centre accommodation. This project is focused on the next stage of development of the Riverside Campus, one of two pioneering campuses in Glasgow City Centre. This project will bring investment and economic stimulus to this locale and the wider City Region and Innovation eco-system.

Investment Opportunities
This business case presents a proposal to public and private funders to support the development of an expanded, on-campus facility at City of Glasgow College’s Riverside Campus.
The case details three interconnected elements forming a larger, mutually supportive project aimed at enhancing workforce skills development and educational infrastructure while also supporting urban regeneration. The development is located in the Gorbals area of Glasgow, complementing historic and current urban renewal efforts south of the River Clyde.
Progress Update
A business case has been prepared by a consortium of the following.
- O’Herlihy & Co Limited, led the development of the overall business case
- Austin-Smith:Lord provided extensive architectural, physical, environmental and space planning input as well as advice on physical development of the building
- AtkinsRéalis provided construction cost estimates
- Harley Haddow provided energy and environmental data and proposals for the Energy Centre
- The Glamis Consultancy provided expert inputs on appraising the conference and meetings business
- Financial input was provided by Neil Blake, an independent specialist.
