At the heart of industrial development in Scotland during the 1970’s and 1980’s, South Lanarkshire Council is responding to the need to address challenges in the industrial stock and seeks partners to bring transformational change.

Following a period of industrial prosperity in the 1980’s and 1990’s the council recognise the need to invest in the existing stock and bring forward development of new stock to meet existing and latent demand.

The council have approval to deliver a programme of interventions including acquisition, sale, redevelopment, refurbishment and supporting existing owners and occupiers.

The council is seeking partners to increase the pace of this programme and deliver on commercial opportunities.

Strategically placed within Scotland's transport network there are a range of opportunities for investors and developers to work with the council to revive a key market for the West of Scotland

Investment Opportunities

The council owns a number of key sites and is looking to acquire more land or work with existing owners to secure investment.

Business and industrial development under use classes 4, 5 & 6.

A full market appraisal has been undertaken by Ryden which has identified opportunities for both public and private sector investment.

The market reflects the quality of the existing stock with the potential to grow rents as new stock is added.

The council have funding in place and project development is underway.

The project is part funded by the Glasgow City Region City Deal which requires a Green Book Business case to be prepared. The Outline Business case is complete and approved.

Progress Update

The council is funded to deliver elements of the project and approval is in place to proceed. The addition of investment partners would accelerate the delivery and create additional commercial opportunities.
